[ 02 · Three months, from outside ]

What you say goes on the map. Then you can see it.

What you tell FractalApril
The same thing, from outside0 moments

A condensed playback of three months of one person training for a 10k in July. Saying it makes a plan. Each week they don’t run, they tell Fractal why, and each reason lands on their map. Fracty notices the reasons keep changing while the skipping doesn’t, and when they restart, it shows them the loop. Nobody can see this from inside their own life. Making it visible is the whole point.

[ 03 · Your loop ]

Not a mood. A route.

The same three months, read as a chain. Each circle is a state you were in, sized by how much of the time you were in it. Each arrow is the chance that state came next. The bright route is the one you kept taking: determined, training, skipping, a reason, a restart.

Drawn from what you actually wrote and said. Not a quiz.

It was never about running.

Fractal looks for that route everywhere else you have written. The same five states, in the same order, in four other parts of your life this year. Different reasons every time. Same shape. That is why we call it a fractal.

Each row is one thing you tried this year. Each block is a state, as long as you were in it. The outline is the loop.

Same question. Only one of them knows you.

The runner asks the same thing in both. One answers the question. One answers the person.

how do i actually stick to my training this time?

Consistency usually comes from setup, not willpower. The key is to make the runs smaller and more automatic than you think they need to be.

For the next 3–4 weeks, I’d structure it like this:

  • Mon: Rest or easy strength/mobility
  • Tue: Easy run — 20–30 min
  • Wed: Rest or light cross-training
  • Thu: Easy run — 20–30 min
  • Fri: Rest
  • Sat: Longer easy run — 40–50 min
  • Sun: Rest

Then a few things that reliably help: pick fixed days and times, lay your kit out the night before, and never skip twice in a row — one miss is normal, two becomes a pattern.

If you miss a week, don’t restart the plan. Just pick up the next scheduled run.

How do I actually stick to the training this time?

You’ve started this plan three times since April. Each time it went the same way: a week of runs, then a skip, then a reason — the launch, then the guests, then the knee — then a restart with new dates.

The reason changes. The restart doesn’t. So the thing to fix isn’t the plan. It’s what happens on the first skipped day.

The left side is a representative answer, written straight. It is good advice for anyone — which is the point. It cannot know you have already tried it three times.

Questions.

What do I actually do with Fractal?

Talk to it about what’s going on — a decision, something you’re stuck on, a half-formed idea, what happened today. Fractal remembers the context, notices when something keeps coming up, and helps you work out what to do next. It also takes notes, creates to-dos with reminders and adds calendar events from the conversation, so the useful parts don’t get lost.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Claude?

A general chat starts cold every time. Fractal starts from you: what you said in April, what you decided in June, what you keep circling back to. So instead of generic advice you get something that notices when you’re repeating yourself — and remembers what you’re trying to change.

Is Fractal an AI personal assistant?

Yes — one that already knows your context. It takes notes, creates to-dos with reminders, adds calendar events and updates your plans, all from ordinary conversation, and answers out of your own history rather than a textbook.

Can I use it as a journal?

Yes. Journal entries take text, a mood, photos and voice notes, can be filed into folders and locked behind a PIN. What you write there feeds the same understanding of you the rest of the app uses — so a pattern you journal about can show up later in a conversation.

Is my data private?

Your data is yours. It’s used only to build your own private Fractal, never trained into a shared model, and never sold or shared. You can see what Fractal remembers, export everything, and delete your account and all of its data yourself, in one step, whenever you want.
